Michael Berry is a director, writer, and actor of stage, television, and film. Berry made his directorial feature debut with the border drama Frontera which he also co-wrote. The film stars Ed Harris, Michael Pena, Eva Longoria, Amy Madigan, and Aden Young. Frontera opened in theaters in 2014. Following Frontera, Berry wrote the screenplay and directed the original musical feature film Stuck, starring Giancarlo Esposito, Amy Madigan, Ashanti, Omar Chaparro, Arden Cho, and Gerard Canonico. Stuck was released in theaters in 2019. Prior to the film’s production, Berry directed the stage version of Stuck at the New York Musical Theater Festival. Recently Berry directed 3 episodes of the NBC/Dick Wolf Television series Chicago Med.
Other works: Directed and co-produced two award-winning short films, Mira and Day of the Grackle, which has collectively won over two dozen best awards at festivals across the country. Directed critically acclaimed NY and regional stage productions of, A Few Good Men, Stuck, All My Sons, I come For Love (also at NYMF), Third Finger Left Hand, Five Tellers Dancing in the Rain, The Park Bench, All My Sons.
As an actor, Berry last appeared on Broadway as an original cast member of the Tony Award, Pulitzer Prize-winning, Next To Normal. Other Broadway and Broadway national tour credits include Les Miserables. Sunset Boulevard, The Who’s, Tommy, Mamma Mia. Off-Broadway Berry appeared in a critically acclaimed production of Moby Dick and was nominated for a Drama Desk award for Best featured actor in a Play. Prior to moving to New York to join the Broadway company of Les Miserables, Berry worked as a stuntman at the Universal Studios Western Stunt Show. Berry received a scholarship to attend the United States International University, School Of Performing And Visual Arts, and In New York studied acting and directing with such luminaries as Austin Pendleton, Wynn Handman, and Uta Hagen. Married to the Broadway actress Sarah Uriarte Berry.
